The International Town and Gown Association kicked off the day with a charette to investigate the issues of the University Hill residents including both the student and non-students. From 5-7 PM there was a free community cookout with food, jazz, poetry readings, dancing and family fun. The event also featured the installations from Finding Ground, our Maymester class looking at ways to improve relations on the Hill. The chalkboard changes every minute of every day. The tables for the event looked beautiful, and the hammocks, although removed by the city, could still be found in a few hidden locations. This was the first of hopefully many community events that create a community of unity, fun, culture, and sharing.
